Simple Habit for Guided Meditations

After going through a difficult time mentally not long ago, where I was questioning many of the decisions I had made in my life, I was in a rut and frustrated about my life was; I've now been able to get myself to a much happier place where I am grateful for all the wonderful things I have in my life and feeling optimistic about my future.

There have been several changes I have made and a few different habits I have developed in order to reach this new mindset, but perhaps the most effective habit and also one of the easiest to employ has been to meditate every day.

Completely new to meditation, I didn't really know what to expect, or whether it would have any effect, but I'd heard so much about it I thought I would give it a try.

I do not lock myself in a dark, quiet room and sit there for hours with my legs crossed, eyes closed and without a single thought entering my head - if you've never meditated before and you're thinking this is what it is, don't worry. Instead I use an app on my phone which has hundreds of guided meditations on many different topics such as relationships, career, anxiety, happiness, parenting and much more.

The app I use is called Simple Habit and the majority of the guided meditations are either 5, 10 or 20 minutes long so are very easy to fit into your day to day.

We spend so much of our lives on autopilot. Our subconscious mind dictates the vast majority of our thoughts and actions and so the great thing about taking just a few minutes each day to meditate is that it allows you to take control of your focus and your thoughts.

Often a lot of the thoughts and beliefs we have do not serve us, they can cause us to doubt ourselves, to hold ourselves back, to fear things. By taking control of your focus and thoughts you gain a new perspective and realise that some of the things you subconsciously believed may not even make sense.

I highly recommend everyone gives meditations a try, even if it is just for 5 minutes a day, it can have a huge effect on your clarity and mental wellbeing. Guided meditations are also great, particularly if you are new to meditating as you don't have to worry about knowing what to do and if there is a certain area in your life you want to focus on and improve, you can do that.

There are many apps out there such as headspace and Calm, all of which generally have free and premium versions, but as I've said, the one I prefer is Simple Habit as although the premium version is more expensive than I would like, the free version has more content than many other apps I have tried and after using for a few months now I am constantly finding new meditations to listen to.

If you would like to give Simple Habit a try, use the link below and you will get 2 weeks of the premium version for free:
